How Tank Watch works it out
The rules behind due dates, problems, N/A answers and turnover.

What is due
Monthly log: due every calendar month; the month shows as done once a monthly log dated in it is saved. Annual roof inspection: due 12 months after the last one. Interior and exterior inspection: due the chosen 3, 4 or 5 years after the last one. "Soon" means within 30 days.
Problems
Tank Watch treats an answer as a problem when it points to one: "yes" to damage, vandalism, forced entry, leaks or corrosion, "no" to a closed hatch, a clean vent screen, a working alarm or a working sampling station. The MassDEP log asks for a comment on every answer that shows a problem, so each one needs an action-taken note before the log can be saved.
Not applicable
Items about a fence, an exterior ladder, an intrusion alarm, a valve pit or cathodic protection start as N/A for a tank that does not have that part. Any item can be answered N/A by hand. The monthly log does not apply to in-ground clearwells and hydropneumatic tanks, and the roof and interior inspections are not counted for a hydropneumatic (pressure) tank.
Turnover days
Turnover days = tank volume ÷ volume exchanged per day. The volume exchanged can be entered directly, or as the daily level swing in feet × gallons per foot. The result is compared with the 3 to 5 day starting point of Chapter 8.1.6.
What it is not
A record keeper and a reminder. It does not inspect the tank, approve a log for MassDEP, or replace an inspector's judgement.
