Why it matters
Water age and stratification
Water that sits too long in a tank ages, and layers of different temperature can stop it mixing. MassDEP recommends a 3 to 5 day complete turnover as a starting point and asks that each tank be evaluated for its own goal (Chapter 8.1.6).
